RESEARCH INTERESTS
Our long-term academic goals are to improve the clinical management of pain by advancing knowledge about analgesic pharmacology and sensory pain mechanisms. Using a translational ("bench-to-bedside-to-bench") approach, these goals are being addressed through clinical and/or laboratory investigation in the areas listed below:

Analgesic drug combinations in acute and chronic pain
Impact of movement-evoked pain on postoperative functional recovery
Prescribing patterns and impact of therapy on quality of life in neuropathic pain
Effects of gabapentin on analgesic tolerance to opioids
Analgesic effects of excitatory amino acid (e.g. glutamate) modulation
